Notes from meetings with Mary and David (SACI)

Meeting w/Mary:

- how SACI is unique = immersion, experience, validity b/c its relationships with Florence
- volunteerism - Tanya
- 125 field trips per semester
- not just tourist field trips, but hands on (Rakku, Correra, Hospitals, Elba, Malta)
- Oldest US ART program in Florence
- Emphasize Studio Arts, but also Academics
- Strong Academics – Italian language and culture IMMERSE (lit, opera, photo, writing)
- LOCATION – in historic center of Florence (most in outskirts)
• Shot of Fir from P. Mich? Or tower? Zoom in to SACI? Or show map
• Garden – draw, ptg, sculpture, ceramics
- Mary could voiceover
- Interview students – make list of interview questions
- First outline, then script – tweak through semester
- Get Jules tour on Friday
- Get end of semester party, openings, etc.
- Emphasize palazzo – beautiful building refitted for teaching art courses
- Lots of Florence!!
- Start with students in the city LOTS of this.
- Charasmatic students, faculty, colorful shots of city, etc.

NOT “Tourist shot” – incorporate it back into the classroom / school always
